Whether I manage to blog or not. While I sleep or while I eat. While I watch or while I completely ignore it….the construction goes on. Glimpse for a moment the view from window shown below at three earlier points in the last year or so:
Now 16 months after our arrival, this is what’s left of my view:
A narrow crack between a bank and an office building. That sneaky building on the right has edged its way up and up so it is now taller than the camouflaging building that it hid behind before. Wonder how high it will go? Of course, if the car dealership in the foreground decides to sell out, it won’t matter. The entire view will be gone. Period. However for the time being I can still see a strip of mountains and some of the Fort. And even if they decide to level the car dealership tomorrow, surely there isn’t enough time to demolish, dig a basement, and build 20 stories to entirely block my view…is there?
I fully sympathize Caroline! A new building they are starting on the riverbank is bout to block the greatest stretch of my river view – and why we took this apartment! And to add insult to injury, they are busily demolishing my lovely green enshrouded starbucks, stuff it under 1 Rockwell (minus trees) and rumour has it, put another high rise in its place, which will totall block our only toher view across Bel Air. It sucks!!

That’s terrible! Your river view is fantastic! At least we have the golf course on the other side, so they’ll only crowd around in one direction. I’ll miss the mountains the most, as they reminded me where we are.

Yes indeed – sorry – I seem to have posted that twice. Glitches coming thick and fast – its obviously all the tall building blocking the airwaves…

I fully sympathize Caroline! They are currently putting up 2 buildings on the river bank which will pretty much block our view of the river – why we chose this apartment in the first place. And to add insult to injury, they have just demolished my favourite Starbucks enshrouded in greenery, dumped it under One Rockwell, and rumour has it, will replace it with yet another high rise that will totally block our only other view of Bel Air. It sucks, doesn’t it?

Oh my goodness! That’s unbelievable Caroline! The worst thing for me is having mirrored glass so you can’t see in the windows! Fabulous for people watching!

Actually you can see in really well at night! And the amazing thing is how much goes on well into the evening, at night, and even at 3am sometimes, I see the security guard going around with the flashlight
